DESIGN

PROCESS: The first part of any garden design process is a conversation, and it starts with questions. What interests you? What inspires you? What bothers or bores you? Do you love hummingbirds? Do you loathe the color yellow? How do you feel about roses on a scale of 1-10? Where do you fall on a scale of modern to naturalistic?

After our initial conversation and site visit, we head to the studio and draw up a number of plans, taking into account your interests and concerns as well as the opportunities and constraints of the space. We review these plans with you and ultimately take the best parts from each as we agree on a master plan.

FEE: We charge a flat rate for the design process, which is due after our initial consultation and before the delivery of plans. This fee pays for our communication, research involved with the design, creation of plans and sketches, and revisions.

INSTALLATION

PROCESS: Once we have decided upon a design, an installation date is set. At this point, we engage in ordering plants, containers and other material from nurseries and related vendors. We also schedule projects with any necessary consultants for irrigation, lighting and carpentry, apply for permits if necessary and arrange the timing and logistics of transportation and delivery. On the installation date(s), we bring together our small crew to bring to life the garden we have co-created.

FEE: We charge a flat rate for the installation process. Half of this fee is due before installation has started, at the time of signing the installation contract. The other half is due when installation is complete.

MAINTENANCE

PROCESS: After design and installation, clients are strongly encouraged to develop maintenance contracts with CF | GARDENS. This guarantees the best care for the garden, and therefore the best protection of the client's investment. Maintenance contracts differ for each project, depending on the size of the garden, complexity of plantings, and level of participation from the client. Among the services included are spring planting and fall cleanup, summer pruning and routine care, pest & disease management, and related horticultural needs.

FEE: We offer two options for maintenance contracts. The first is a subscription service, in which clients pay a fixed monthly rate for garden care. This rate is based on pre-assessed estimates of weekly and monthly tasks in the garden. A  subscription service guarantees the client a well-kept garden at a consistent and easily-managed rate. Alternatively, clients have the option of paying for hourly maintenance service- in this case, hours are recorded and billed to the client monthly.
